What the comparison looks at
Limit, retention, whether defence costs erode the limit, third-party coverage, the wage-and-hour defence sublimit, the retroactive date, who counts as an insured (owners, managers, volunteers, independent contractors) and the duty to defend. A quote with a lower premium and a retention that would absorb most of a typical claim is shown for what it is.
Why practices matter to the price
Underwriters ask about handbooks and training because documented practices reduce claims and make defence easier. Some carriers include a hotline and template policies with the policy; the comparison lists these as included services, since they can be worth more than a small premium difference.
Claims-made terms
EPLI is claims-made. The retroactive date decides how far back covered employment decisions reach, and switching carriers without matching it exposes earlier decisions. The comparison flags any quote that would move the date.
After you buy
The policy card shows the limit and retention, headcount changes can be reported from the policy page, and the renewal application carries your retroactive date forward.
